Flights Of Fantasy..

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet".. Shakespear babu must have had a hard time explaining this.. I am too lazy to search for the explanation that he gave..Frankly speaking, i dont even know if he ever gave one. But I feel its quite true..
I named all my previous posts after writing the body but whats the fun in doing the same thing everytime? so thought of giving a name first and then posting my visionary thoughts ;-) And even as i am writing this, am desperately praying god to help me do justice to the title.. Well lets leave that to God Uncle and storm ahead into the dungeons of the bloggers world.

When i thought of naming this post 'flights of fantasy', i instantly went back in time to my school where we used to have a poem book with the same name.. and some of the lines of some poems even started scrolling in my mind.. i really admire the way our mind works, the way our imagination takes us to places beyond the boundaries... the boundaries of time, the boundaries of physics, boundaries of the real world.. Nothing can stop the power of Imagination..

When i was a kid, i used to imagine little people staying inside the Radio who spoke, sang and played instruments for us.. I wondered who gave them food and like a good boy i once tried to feed them with my part of milk which actually short circuited our radio.. When smoke came out of it, i went and informed mom that by mistake i poured hot milk on those people and their houses have caught fire.. Childhood imagination.. has no heights..

Now.. its not only children who imagine things.. People from all the age groups imagine things..

Close your eyes and think of a person named Raam Khilavan... What did you visualise?
A sweating person with a pagdi holding a lathi and taking the bufallos to the local water body? a person riding a bicycle in a village surroundings? or a milkman? or local ramu kaka..
Somehow, that village surrounding will eternally come in your thoughts out of nowhere. You will find it hard to digest at first go if I were to tell you that Mr.Raam Khilavan is the CEO of an MNC.. Now try imagining how A.Manohar looks like [pls dont imagine a martian with popped out eyes and two tails getting down from a UFO.. ;-)]

I once visited a zoo.. all the while when i was on a bus looking around the wildlife, i was imagining what they might be thinking.. I imagined a lion staring at us thinking "poor humans.. look at them stuffed in that mobile cage".. and why not.. we were not free in there but they were.. then there was this crocodile which was thinking... "bahut din se insaani gosht nahi khaaya.. kaash ek aadh idhar aa jaata to meri to party ho jati".. This did scare me and i made my flight of imagination immidiately land.

Whenever we come across a line in mind like "Aisa hota to kaisa hota (what would have happened if things went that way)", we will imagine.. and once you are on that flight, you fly really high.. like cloning sania mirza and marrying her.. to discovery of a new chemical element... to conquering earth back from genetically mutated creatures like krinocozilla(that name is again my imagination)... to going on a voyage into the seas on your bike. Guess if imagination goes wild, mountains could run in Olympics, it can rain pizzas and burgers and I can score a double Century on debut against Australia...

So You've got the power.. Power of imagination.. Its a free effortless travel to anywhere you dream to go or wanna create/do.. and if you are smart enough to recreate the Imagination in the real world... you will be THE BOSS..

PN.. The first line of this post actually made me ponder too much on my name.. People who dont know me, do leave a comment on what do you think i look like(use your wildest imagination)... the person who comes closest will receive lots of appreciation and a chance to keep getting bugged by this blog.... and the people who know me, are subscribed to this offer by default ;-) And do tell me if God uncle helped me do justice to that Title.. waise bhi.."whats in a name!!!"

not sure if this has got any connection to your blog, but have you ever wondered how animals got their names? why is a bear called a bear? a cow called a cow? a bull called a bull? a pig called a pig, a sheep called a sheep? if you saw an animal as smooth as glass, slithering it's way through the grass, saw it dissappear by a tree near a lake, would you call it anything else but a...?

i guess there's more to a name than it appears. can you imagine yourself ever forgetting the sound of your own name? someone calling our your name and you don't respond? spooky?

well, someone's calling out my name and i'd better go. :-)

yes mr zimmerman.. i agree that there is more to names than it appears.. we tend to imagine the character of a person with name isnt it? Will you ever name your kid as Ravana.. or maybe Hitler??
We tend to make the first impression of a person with names.. For the same mistake done, you would easily forgive a person names sachin tendulkar than a person named osama isnt it :-)

:) I used to think the same abt radio!
Power of imagination, I agree, but why is it really hard for us to imagine differently..why do we think about just 'one' person when we hear the name 'hitler'?!!

If somebody is 'Famous' we associate the name with the personality... and next time we hear such a name, you expect to see a person of same nature.. M sure this would not happen with more common names.. if you know 2-3persons having same name, association of personality with that name decreases unless one of them is too famous or has a very very attractive/strong personality..
